Mottarone
The Mottarone Mountain (m. 1485) that separates the most famous Lake Maggiore from Lake Orta, is equipped for winter sports with ski lifts. In the limpid days, it is possible admire the spectacular views of seven lakes, Monte Rosa and the Alps. It will be exciting take the cable car from Stresa (Lake Maggiore), to the peak (18 minutes journey) and from the top down to the side of Lake Orta, with the possibility to take on your mountain bike.
The cable car stops also at the "Botanical Garden Alpinia", near the village of Gignese, opened from April to October, every day from 9.30 to 18.00 except Monday. Free admission.
Sports
For those who love water sports, many activities can be practiced. Apart from swimming in the bathing waters of Lake Orta or in the pool of the Municipal Sports Centre of Omegna, it is possible to do activities as diving, boating, waterskiing and sailing.
Moreover, for those who love sport fishing we suggest the Pond Bridge Bria next to Omegna and on the western shore, the lakes of Nonio. In the area, there are many associations of game fishing.
There are also numerous riding stables on Lake Orta (Miasino, Egro, Invorio), many of them offer courses at different levels.

Museums and Foundations
The Eco-museum's aim is to relate the cultural resources of the area, historically and geographically connected to Lake Orta (Mountain Community Cusio Mottarone Mountain Community of Two Lakes, Mountain Community Strona Valley and Basso Toce, Territory Ancient Riviera of Saint Giulio) and embracing the area of Cusio, Valle Strona, Mottarone to the gates of the Val d'Ossola and slopes that descend to the Lake Maggiore between the province and the province of Novara Verbania.
The Eco- Museum of Lake Orta and Mottarone is composed by:
